Chapter 65

Ye Qin had warned me earlier that this ability should not be casually disclosed to anyone.

Of course, I couldn't share this ability with just anyone, but Nangong Mian was an exception. He was her brother, and he was the one person she could trust with this secret.

Upon hearing this revelation, Nangong Mian looked at Huang Quan in shock and asked, "Quanquan, your power can really...?" He didn't finish his sentence, but Huang Quan understood what he meant.

"Yeah," she confirmed.

Nangong Mian immediately cautioned, "You can't tell anyone else about this."

Before Huang Quan could respond, Nangong Mian pressed further, asking, "Who else knows about this?"

"Ye Qin," Huang Quan admitted, deciding not to hide the fact. "It was this spiritual power that I used to save him."

Nangong Mian finally grasped the situation, saying, "No wonder..."

He now understood how Huang Quan had managed to save someone so miraculously.

Nangong Mian lamented. "Everyone else knows, but I was kept in the dark."

Seeing his mock jealousy, Huang Quan chuckled and called out, "Third brother."

Nangong Mian sighed, "I was just teasing. But to think that Ye Qin knew Quanquan's secret before me, it's a little hard to swallow."

Huang Quan spent some time coaxing him before he relented.

"By the way, Teacher Ming Zhao is still waiting outside," Huang Quan said. "Third brother, I'll let the teacher in first, and then we can discuss your poisoning."

"Poisoning?"

Nangong Mian appeared perplexed and asked, "Didn’t I get injured? What poison are you talking about?"

Huang Quan sighed and her voice took on a colder tone. "I didn't know about this either. The teacher didn't realize you were poisoned, either. I only found out when I examined you."

Nangong Mian was taken aback. If it were just an injury, he would understand, given his level of cultivation. Injuries were a part of their training. But poisoning was a different matter. "Most of the people we encountered were acquaintances this time. We might not be the best of friends, but we've been on training missions together before. Logically, there should be no reason for them to poison me."

Huang Quan provided two possibilities, seeming more composed than Nangong Mian. "The first possibility is that it might have something to do with the Qin family, maybe they arranged for someone to poison you because of me."

"The second possibility is related to the upcoming competition organized by the academy."

Nangong Mian slowly connected the dots. In a little over a month, the academy would select students to represent them in the Tianqi Empire competition. The chosen students varied each year, but they were always the top talents of their age group.

Nangong Mian, being seventeen and a sixth-level spiritual master, was undoubtedly a genius among his peers. His presence in the competition would mean one less available spot for others. However, if he were injured or something happened to him, his spot would become vacant.

"Third brother, you don't need to worry about this," Huang Quan reassured Nangong Mian, her expression serious. "I will find the person responsible. Whoever dared to poison my brother doesn't deserve to live."

With that said, Huang Quan headed to the door.

Ming Zhao had been patiently waiting outside, refraining from disturbing them. Seeing Huang Quan open the door, he immediately inquired, "How is your brother?"

Huang Quan reassured him, "He's alright." She then gestured for the teacher to enter.

Ming Zhao was relieved to hear that Nangong Mian was fine, but a complex mix of emotions washed over him as he entered the room and saw Nangong Mian, who was already dressed and ready.
